ANA’s “Flying Honu” (A380) Scenic Flight Continue to Attract
To counter decreased travel demand growth, All Nippon Airways (ANA) continues find new ways to attract new customers through travel promotions in Hokkaido using its two-story Airbus A380 “FLYING HONU” for scenic flights. On September 19th, 373 customers boarded ANA’s special livery motif FLYING HONU (Hawaiian for sea turtle) aircraft, which was originally designed as a homage to the Hawaiian blue skies, to take for an hour and a half in-flight “tour” over Hokkaido Prefecture
After departure from New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Japan, customers enjoyed the beautiful Hokkaido scenery of the Hidaka Mountains, Obihiro Airport, Urahoro Town, Kushiro Airport, Yuakandake Mountains, Memanbetsu Airport, Lake Saloma, Monbetsu City, Lake Kuccaro, Wakkanai Airport, Cape Nosappu, Rishiri Airport, Rishiri Fuji, Rishiri City, Iwamizawa City, Kuriyama Town, and Shin-Yubari all from the comfort of their seat 30,000 feet above. ANA’s A380 has 520 seats in 4 classes, 8 in first class, 56 in business class, 73 in premium economy and 383 in economy on the main deck.
As customer response to the tours have been very positive the airline plans more flights. The next scheduled scenic charter flights will be between Narita Airport and Naha Airport with an additional flight set for Narita Airport and Shimojishima (one of the southernmost islands off the main island of Okinawa, Japan).
