Vietnam Airlines starts IATA Travel Pass Trial on Narita flights
Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier of Vietnam, started trial introductions from mid-July for a digital health passport, “IATA Travel Pass”, developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The trial introduction will be carried out on two flights on the airline’s flights Narita-Da Nang route.
To join the trial, passengers only need to register on the Vietnam Airlines website at least three days before the departure date, install the “IATA Travel Pass” app on their own smartphone, and create a personal account. Once the account is completed, the passenger must input their personal profile including a photo, passport information, and their flight schedule details on the app. Vietnam Airlines, like many airlines around the world, have already begun testing the IATA Travel Pass as a first step toward a recovery of travel business lost due to COVID-19.
Simultaneously, Vietnam Airlines has also announced plans to resume international services with B787 and A350 aircraft to Australia, Europe, Thailand, and Japan starting from July. Regarding their Japan routes, the airline will operate two flights a week between Hanoi and Tokyo from July 17 to October 30 and one flight a week between Ho Chi Minh – Tokyo flight once a week from August 1st to October 30th.
